About the Author
John Howard Yoder taught at Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary and was later professor of theology and ethics at the University of Notre Dame. He is known especially for his influential book "The Politics of Jesus".
Andy Alexis-Baker is a graduate of Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary. He is currently an adjunct professor of peace, justice, and conflict studies at Goshen College.

A punch to the gut . . .

This is surely the most provocative and deeply troubling book I have read in many moons. It is a provocation in that it has gently forced me to consider or reconsider what discipleship to Jesus Christ is all about in terms of my relationship to the society and culture of which I am a part. It is deeply troubling in that my reconsideration seems to indicate that I, like nearly every other Christian I know, has bought into a way of being Christian which is so overly contentualized to my own cultural scene that it is, at many points, simply colluding with the powers that be rather than a faithful journey with the one who loved me and gave himself for me. So much to consider here. In a rut? Thinking Jesus must have meant more than church life in the 21st century seems to indicate? You might try this . . .
