It is a good romance and kind of cute. Though the main character is a little ditzy, she's kind of funny and a nervous wreck. The guy she falls for seems just a little controlling but seems to care for her in a heroic kind of way.

Great story but unpredictable quality with different orders

I originally purchased this book in September, it showed up in excellent condition, great quality and the story was even better. Initial review was "kids loved it."
However, 3 months later in December, I ordered several more copies to give away as Christmas gifts- these showed up completely different- same great story but the print quality was horrible, some text/images were blurred. I was able to get them exchanged and the replaced copies were again like the first, but what a hassle! I understand that this is an indie published book but my complaint is with the unpredictable printing quality/material.

My little brother loves the book! He's a big fan of basketball and Curry so I figured I'd get it for him. I've read the book to him more times than I can count and we've been going out to play basketball even more.

Great story about sticking it out and not giving up

Great story about sticking it out and not giving up. I got this for my nephew who loves basketball but doesn't always like to do what it takes to get the end result. I'm hoping once he reads this it will offer him some extra encouragement. Illustrations are very well done. Great book for any kid who loves the game and who could also use a little encouragement and inspiration.

Excellent Book for Beginners to Advanced

What I appreciate about Krav is its orientation towards defense against the unexpected. One moment you are walking to your car and the next you are being attacked or forced into another car. It's a time of something that works through its use of instinctive and forceful action. It's also a great equalizer for women where getting a little distance or a 1 second head start will be the difference between escape and ending up in a dumpster.

The risks it addresses are not abstractions to the citizens of most of our large cities. The morgues are littered with great women and men who died brutal deaths at the hands of street thugs. In many of these cases there was a moment in time when escape might have been possible, especially when the attackers are using drugs. For most women who are forced into cars by strangers it is the last ride of their life ( see Gift of Fear).

As a professional friend who is also a Deputy Sheriff part time commented, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

There's no substitute for training. But this book helps to reinforce what you have learned and prepare you for the next lessons.

I found 25% of the book to be helpful as a review of what I was learning in class. The book was worthwhile for that alone. However, there is a lot more in the book.

The other 75% represents a range from a preview of what I will be learning to stuff that is and will always be far beyond my competence. However, it is 100% interesting. Hopefully I will never be called upon to disarm a man holding a grenade with the pin pulled. It's a worst case scenario left to those who must deal with such things.

The photos are clear and helpful. The consistent dress of the attacker and defender make it easier to understand. This makes it a great review and practice tool.

My sense is that many of the reviewers are looking for the same perfection they strive for in martial arts in a book. Unless written by the master under whom they study there will always be conflicts and inconsistencies.

Will the book take you off the couch and prepare you for deadly combat in 10 days? - no. Will it help you absorb and improve what you are learning and have learned in class? YES. Will it help you to understand and appreciate what is possible? YES Will it help to review what you learned years earlier YES.

Most Important Book in English on Krav Maga Weapons Defense.

With over 30 years of Martial arts training under my belt, learning from and instructing various special operators, and Krav maga Instructor, simply the most IMPORTANT book written in English on the subject of armed attacks from a Krav Maga perspective. A Must have for all interested in Serious weapons defense.

NIce Reference that Could Have Been Better.

Decent Krav Maga instructional--if you know something about basic techniques of blocking, striking, and applied forces. Speaking as a 40+ year practitioner of the defensive arts, I wouldn't expect to give this to complete novices and expect them to fair well attempting these techniques on their own--they need to have some existing knowledge and understanding of general self defense basics to really benefit. The book is user friendly, however, with clear, quality gray scale graphics and photos. It is better than a number of the overly optimistic products I've seen, but it would be so much more effective if it came with an explanatory DVD on the inside of the cover to address the more involved techniques, etc.

Your Best Bet

I am currently finishing up my studies in Kelly. This work book is very solid, Kelly has taken a very in-depth and detailed approach to biblical hebrew. I am a Bible and Theology Major studying under one of Oxford's finest Hebrew profs. This work book can be used by anyone and is great for teaching yourself. Just make sure you buy the Handbook with the answers too...that is a life saver. If you are planning on teaching yourself "biblical" hebrew, then Kelly is the best route you can go, in my opinion of course.

A Great Systematic Presentation

This book by Kelley is extremely detailed without being overwhelming. Learning any language can be overwhelming, but if one takes this book lesson by lesson, they will do well. I find that this makes a great companion text to "Biblical Hebrew" by Kittel et al (see my review on this book for more information).
Kelley provides what Kittel does not, and vice versa. Kittel presents great lessons without getting into a mass of details that aren't yet necessary, and as a workbook, it moves you along confidently and quickly. But with learning anything, many like to know, and will definitely need to know fairly early on, not simply how something is done, but WHY, and what nuances are caused by the details. Kelley does just that by explaining point by point why things work the way they do in Hebrew. For example, this would include how vowel pointing changes and why. Kittel deals with vowel pointing, of course, and how it works grammatically, but leaves one without answers in many cases as to the systematic rules of how vowel pointing works. Also, Kittel's book does a nice job in presenting participles, but doesn't really give enough detail to help the beginner with the related nuances of participial grammar that even the beginner needs to know (e.g., what's the difference in translation between participles as adjective, as verbs, and as nouns?).
Kelley explains in detail what Kittel presents generally. He gives all the answers that Kittel does not. Kittel gives a more workable workbook than does Kelley. With Kittel, you feel like you're moving along faster and so it is more encouraging (I personally went through the first half of Kittel's book thoroughly in only 2 1/2 months, along with working on a number of chapters later in the book at the same time; I could never do that with Kelley's book).
Because of its great detail, it may have a somewhat discouraging effect by not allowing the student to move very quickly.
What I recommend for any truly serious student of Hebrew is to invest in both Kittel's and Kelley's books. Use Kittel's book as the main course, and use Kelley's as a main supplement (you will definitely need something to go with Kittel's book). After you've gotten about half way through Kittel's book, it would then be good to look at Kelley's book systematically and find the reasons for why Hebrew is the way it is. Ultimately, Kelley's book will have to become your main text if you really plan to learn Hebrew effectively. Kelley by far gives many more exercises to hone your skills. Also, I use Kelley's book sort of like an encyclopedia to turn to for more information as I study a chapter in Kittel's workbook.
I can't recommend this combination of books enough, for it truly gives many positive facets to studying Hebrew. For under $100, the serious student can be set for a long time with these two books. And one can still keep it under a hundred dollars by investing in what I believe to be the best student's vocabulary book out there for the price, "A Student's Vocabulary for Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic," by Larry Mitchel, which covers all Hebrew words used 10 times or more in the OT, and all Aramaic words if you should choose to delve into that.
Kelley's book, considering its detail, is quite sufficiently systematic and also simple in its explanations. If you really want to learn, this book will give you what you need without being cumbersome.

Thus, the poem deals with the high epic theme of the creation of the divine order of the world under the direction of Zeus. Works and Days, by contrast, considers justice and work in the context of Hesiod's own life. The difference in subject matter produces a difference in style: Theogony is strongly influenced by the epic conventions; Works and Days is more modern and freewheeling.

To get a fuller picture of Hesiod and his poems, we must try to understand him in relation to his times. The eighth century, when Hesiod lived, was the time of the great Greek awakening after the period of relative darkness ushered in by the fall of the old Mycenaean kingdoms around 1125 B.C. Hesiod thus lived at the beginning of the Greek classical period, and his poems influenced not only that age but also Western culture in our day.

Superb translations of Hesiod!

I'm dumbfounded as to why no one has reviewed this amazing edition of Hesiod by Frazer!

This translation preserves the greatness of Hesiod's masterpieces, without using an idiom that is outdated. The readability is easy and the font use, quite nice. There are a number of plates included, and very useful summaries of all the episodes in both works.

As in Homer I always think it essential that one have at least 2 different translations. With Hesiod, his best translators in English are: Lombardo, Evelyn-White and Frazer!

Can be hard to follow especially if you don't know much about mythology

This translation was kind of hard for me to follow. I don't know much about Greek mythology, but I needed this book for a class. There are exerpts at the end of each section that help to try to explain things which only helps half the time. Only with the help of the teachings of my professor was I able to start to fully understand this book and Greek mythology

Some Good, Some Bad

I've got a '03 V6 (not super charged). I got this really as reference to help a buddy and me replace my timing belt (he's all but a professional mechanic) and am planning on figuring out what maintenance I can do on my own. This book has left me with a complete 50/50 feeling. It covers such a broad range of years, as most after market manuals do, that I found my Frontier to be just a little different than what's described in the book. It's definitely gotten me through some jobs but has also left me standing and scratching my head. It's a good starting point but I would recommend walking through every project comparing the book to your actual truck as best you can before starting anything. Despite what other reviews have said, I wouldn't tear down and rebuild my truck with this, but, combined with forums and blogs online, it's good too have.
Compared to the Haynes, I'd get the Chilton.

Good starting point with lots of useful information

As most of you know, this is not a substitute for an OEM factory manual. Since most of these Chilton's and Haynes manuals cover multiple vehicles, the steps and part locations listed in the text do not always reflect what you'll be looking at in your own garage. If your automotive knowledge is limited to changing fluids, spark plugs, air filters and maybe even brakes, I don't recommend trying to rebuild your engine with only this manual. However, it's great to have around and can get you through a good majority of the general repairs that will need to be performed on your vehicle during the time you own it.

Chilton Manel for 1998 to 2004 pickups

I would highly recommend this product to any one with a Nissan pickup from 1998 to 2004. Manual covers all small to large repairs with not only step by step information to do it, but also picture to picture instructions as well, for those with little to no experience in the field. I've purchased the more expensive manuals to find they cover less repairs, and are geared more to someone who already knows the basics. In the real world most people don't, so I would purchase this one, repairs will be easy and cheap as they should be. :0)

The first of its kind, this book provides an insight into the mind-set of extremists. It presents a picture of the world that extremists construct through their own discourse and explains how extremists try to win the hearts and minds of mainstream Muslims in order to expand their support base, seek donations, and find new recruits. Understanding extremist narratives and the ways they feed the broader militant discourse may yield more meaningful and effective strategies for the West to communicate with mainstream Muslims.
