Private Label on Amazon.

I was researching on how to private label products on Amazon and thought I'd start by reading this book. This was a good starters guide I felt and it outlined the basics from start to end covering the differences between reselling vs private labeling and how to work around setting up a product from scratch. I felt that the author could've provided more information on private labeling, such as, the process from start to beginning on private labeling a product with REAL examples. However, it was more a guideline on selling on amazon basics and how to. The book touches on the hurdles that most newbies will face if they choose to take this path and gives a brief description on how to counter things from bad reviews to a marketing plan. The title reads PRIVATE LABEL, I felt there should've been more on that. It was a good read and definitely a good starting point for beginners, a lot of information overall on how to set up a product and what to look out for sourcing products from Alibaba which was helpful.

I got a book on this topic for my son a few months ago and he has since implemented his business Amazon FBA model and doing very well. I have since made a decision to join him in his business venture but first I need to learn as much as I can so in addition to the book that he already has I got a copy of this book while it was on its free promotion and I must say that I am extremely impressed with the amount of information provided in this is book. It is packed with detailed info for anyone who decides to do this business.

A key part of this book that stood out at me is the chapter about searching for a supplier in China. This is top notch valuable information, most sellers keep this info to themselves. I am grateful that Harry is selfless and decided that this bit of information is crucial to his readers business being profitable.

Armed with this knowledge I am confident I will be a great addition to my son's business.

Private label products are the hot new topic. There are a ton of courses coming out, some ultra expensive, and others very easy on the pocketbook. This amazing book is super cheap and you should get it if you're planning to start a FBA business. It's not as easy as some people make it out to be, and if you do things the wrong way you can end up spending thousands of dollars for nothing. This book will help you out and guide you through the entire process.

The final chapter discusses the numerical simulation of platelet motion near a wall representing injured tissue.

This volume provides a roadmap to the current state of the art in computational cellular mechanics and biofluiddynamics. About the Author

Mary Beth Chrissis is a senior member of the technical staff at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). Since joining the SEI in 1988, Chrissis has been a coauthor of the Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development (CMMI-DEV) and Capability Maturity Model for Software (SW-CMM) models. Currently, Chrissis chairs the CMMI Configuration Control Board (CCB), is a member of the IEEE Software and Systems Engineering Standards Executive Committee, and is an instructor of various CMMI model-related courses at the SEI. Prior to joining the SEI, Chrissis worked at GTE Government Systems in Rockville, Maryland; Dravo Automation Sciences in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Sperry Corporation in Great Neck, New York. Before coming to the SEI, Chrissis was pursuing her M.S. in computer science from Johns Hopkins University, and in 1983 she received a B.S. from Carnegie Mellon University.

Mike Konrad is a senior member of the technical staff and has been at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University since 1988. Dr. Konrad is the Chief Architect of CMMI and Manager of SEI’s CMMI Modeling Team. Previously, he was Chair of the CMMI Configuration Control Board (2001-2006) and a member of the International Process Research Consortium (2004-2006). Also, he was a member of the teams that developed the original Software CMM Version 1.0 (1988-1991) and ISO 15504 (1993-1997). Prior to joining the SEI,�Konrad worked with several companies in computer science-related positions, including ISSI, SAIC, and Honeywell and briefly with George Mason University and the University of Maryland. He obtained his Ph.D. in mathematics in 1978 from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio.

Sandy Shrum is a senior writer/editor and communications point of contact for the Software Engineering Process Management program at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). Besides this book, she has coauthored two other CMMI books: CMMI�-ACQ: Guidelines for Improving the Acquisition of Products and Services (Addison-Wesley, 2009) and CMM� for Services: Guidelines for Superior Service, Second Edition (Addison-Wesley, 2007). She has been with the SEI since 1995 and has been a member of the CMMI Development Team since the CMMI project’s inception in 1998. Her roles on the project have included model author, small review team member, reviewer, editor, model development process coordinator, and quality assurance process owner. Before joining the SEI, Sandy worked for eight years with Legent Corporation, a Virginia-based software company. Her experience as a technical communicator dates back to 1988, when she earned her M.S. in professional writing from Carnegie Mellon University. Her undergraduate degree, a B.S. in business administration, was earned at Gannon University, Erie, Pennsylvania.

Exactly what it needs to be.

This book is outstanding for anyone who is looking for a model to assist their company processes. I have read this book forwards and backwards leading into our CMMI appraisal and without the help of the book, we would not have styled our processes and procedures correctly to achieve our CMMI ML3 objectives. Process Improvement at its Best

CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) models are the product of the industry's best coming together to build a collection of best practices that help organizations to improve their processes.

The version 1.3 core framework now supports CMMI for Services, CMMI for Development, and CMMI for Acquisition. This book covers CMMI for Development.

It begins with an introduction to process improvement, the CMMI history, the CMMI framework, and CMMI for development.

It then has several chapters that go into detail explaining the ins and outs of the CMMI framework. Topics covered include Core Process Areas and CMMI Models, Understanding Levels, Structures of the Continuous and Staged Representations, Understanding Capability Levels and Maturity Levels, Process Areas, Achieving High Maturity, Recursion and Iteration of Engineering Processes, Adopting CMMI, and SCAMPI Appraisal Methods.

My favorite chapter in this section is Chapter 4: Relationship Among Process Areas. It has great diagrams that show the relationships between the process areas. It really helps to give them context.

Part one ends with Essays and Case Studies. It has 5 essays and 3 case studies. My favorite essay is Ten Missing Links to CMMI Success. Some of the other are Avoiding Typical Process Improvement Pitfalls, Hiring a CMMI Consultant or Lead Appraiser, and From Doubter to Believer: My Journey to CMMI.

The book then continues with a detailed overview of the Generic Goals and Generic Practices which is followed by a chapter on each of the Process Areas in the CMMI for Development. Each chapter about a process area gives in-depth coverage. They include the purpose, introductory notes, related process areas, and specific practices by goals which include example work products.

The book ends with a few appendix - References, Acronyms, CMMI Version 1.3 Project Participants, and a really nice Glossary.

One of the things I like about the book is the Perspectives. They are little sidebars that include insight from the creators and industry experts. Some of them are pretty interesting like the one about how the name constellation started being used.

There are also tons of tips, hints, and x-refs in the sidebars throughout the process areas part of the book. Tips and hints where similar in that they provided additional information about the topic at hand. The x-ref boxes include cross reference material. Sometimes the cross references where in the book and sometimes they are external.

The book is the cr�me de la cr�me of the CMMI resources. This material comes straight from the experts. I have been involved in a lot of process improvement initiatives. Not all of the CMMI initiatives, which is a shame. I can tell you that if I had my choice, the wisdom found in this book would be applied to all the projects I go to.

All in all, if you are involved with process improvement, you own it to yourself to get this book. If you are involved with CMMI for development at all, you MUST get this book.

Andrew Holmes-Siedle is a physicist and consultant to Brunel University of West London, collaborating on CERN research and developing silicon devices. He previously spent over ten years working in Princeton (USA) on space and defence programmes and owns REM Oxford Ltd..
Len Adams is a consultant to Spur Electron, advising the British National Space Centre and other agencies. He is also an Associate Professor at Brunel University of West London. He recently retired from the European Space Agency in The Netherlands, where his group handled most of the radiation problems for the Agency.

A must reference/text book for everyone in Space Radiation.

This text details nearly everything one need to know for a basic understanding of radiation effects on electronic components and systems. Lots of very useful tables and graphs that are needed nearly daily by the radiation experts as well as the beginners in the field. Andy & Len have done a great job putting all this information in a very understandable format. A must reference/test for everyone in the Space Radiation business. Dr. Michael K. Randbook of Radiation Prefects

Good book which details a fundamental grasp of radiation effects upon material substances, including alien skin tissue, earth based metals and holographic environments.

I brought it with me when flying across the Atlantic Ocean and was startled to find out that radiation can transmute any jet engine. There's even times that it can bring a big jet down.

It's a good book if you need knowledge of defeating complex alien life forms, as radiation can kill any living skin tissue or metallic matter (think robots).

In all, handy for a library or someone with a passing fascination of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

About the Author
Martin van Creveld was born in the Netherlands in 1946 and has lived in Israel from 1950. Having studied in Jerusalem and London, since 1971 he has been on the faculty of the History Department, the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. A specialist in military history and strategy, he is the author of 20 books, including "The Land of Blood and Honey" and "Defending Israel", and has appeared regularly on CBS, CNN and the BBC.

A great piece of military analysis

Excellent analysis of the differences in the organisation between the US and German armies during WWII, which made the German so much more efficient than the American. The main reason was the German inclination to decentralize decisions as far down as possible. Regiments were made up of soldiers from the same district in Germany, and regimental commanders decided who to train for officers, who to promote, who to decorate and who to punish. Assessments were made qualitatively, and the main qualities looked for in an officer, and a soldier, where creativity, iniative, and decisiveness. The American system was centralized, many of the best men where at home, doing numerical analysis on developments at the front. As utterly sinister as the nazi system was, the organisation of its war machine was, strangely enough, more human than the American one, and it proves valuable lessons for anyone.

Military history, and not a shot fired in this book!

Working by numbers vs working by character. That would be the short version of this book on the difference between the US Army in WWII vs the German Army.
This was the first book on military history that I read in which not a shot is fired! In this book you'll find no description of battles, operations or campaigns, it is all about the methods by which these two armies have recruited their soldiers, determined their abilities, trained them, led them, fed them, rewarded them, treated them when wounded.
There is a significant difference between the German Army going for quality, leadership, comradeship, forging a bond between soldiers in a unit and giving the commanders freedom in the way they execute their missions ('auftragstactiek')on the one hand and the American Army using mass. Mass in firepower, mass in numbers, masses of statistics, treating their soldiers like well produced pieces of interchangeable equipment with little thought for the individual qualities of the soldier. This caused a lot of human wastage in units and has (according to Van Creveld) lengthened the war somewhat.
In the German Army it forged a bond between soldiers that held even against the onslaught of 1943 - 1945 on the Eastern Front and later in the West, where German kept on fighting beyond all hope of winning the war or even winning a reasonable peace. But that fighting quality came at a price and Van Creveld mentions that price explicitly. For the German soldier it didn't matter for what cause he fought, it made formidable soldiers without much of a conscience.

The book is highly recommend for students of military history, but also for any modern manager who has more trust in the statistical data on his employees than in the quality, character and mission oriented freedom of work in his employees.

Very informative book...

I am going to start by saying that "Music Marketing: Press, Promotion, distribution, and Retail" by Mike King is a very informative book. The book lays out, in some detail, ways to achieve success in the music business through the various outlets available to bands these days. The book doesn't strongly emphasize any particular avenue or approach, but does give a fair amount of do's and don'ts that can really be helpful to bands trying to break through to the next level.

However, this book is not for the fly-by-night reader. I would venture to say that a typical band member picking up this book and trying to grasp the concepts in it, would be pretty hard pressed. Most of the stuff in this book seems to be designed from the perspective of a publicist, marketer, or music business insider. While this does work on many levels and gives some great insight into areas a band may never think of, the reading is more in-depth than I would have ever cared to endure when I was in a band. Even as a Marketing major, some of the concepts in this book are a little beyond my grasp.

The book has a heavy lean toward the Boston-area (which is where the book was published, incidentally.) It's not that big of a deal, but I mention it because the music scenes vary from one city to the next and a city-centric focus may be off-putting to some readers. The book also has a much heavier focus on bands that have already kind of established themselves and are trying to make it to the next level or get signed. So, I would caution brand new bands from picking this book up. Furthermore, many of the concepts in this book cost a lot of money with little focus on guerrilla tactics of marketing.

A band could get a few key components from this book, however. Since the book does provide press release examples, promotion examples, and insider interviews, a band could use this as a tool to help model their own marketing efforts. Another good thing about this book is that it provides a workshop exercise at the end of each chapter for a band to understand the concepts better and flesh out their marketing strategy.

This book is great for someone who wants to become a music marketer specifically or a publicist perhaps. For a band, however, it might be a little too much to handle while trying to flesh out the best music you can (because that is the most important part, even according to Mike King in his book.) Don't get me wrong - a band should probably know the stuff in this book as they progress - but, my advice with this book, if you are really interested in picking it up, is to give it to the person running your merchandise booth, to a friend that isn't in the band but wants to help out, or to a parent that would help. Give it to someone who really has the time to work on and understand the concepts in this book.

This is a great book, but keep in mind that it's not ...

This is a great book, but keep in mind that it's not up-to-date anymore. The music business is rapidly changing such that the internet is more important than physical CDs. This book has a lot of great information on brick-and-mortar retail, but doesn't focus enough on or have the most current information on online marketing.

A pretty good read

Another book used in the Music Business courses taught at Berkelee School of Music. A decent primer and probably a solid textbook for those of you taking the class. These kinds of books I think are a necessity to the aspiring musician or music industry mind. Even those of you who have been invested in the industry can learn a lot from this one. Sometimes artists can gain a lot from the basic understanding of what all those 'behind the scenes' people are doing.

While its written as more of a basics run-down of the marketing side of the industry, I feel like the content is relevant to the DIY artist in general as it demystifies some of the more convoluted aspects of how a record goes from being written to being purchased (or at least heard)

I would recommend this to anyone wanting to learn more about the marketing side of music, as well as those other marketing professionals who may have something to gain from learning more about the music side.
